KEY POINTS:
PSP PG
Pros: Ratchet and Clank, as one of Sony's goldmine franchises, has given gamers plenty to crow about over the years. Secret Agent Clank puts the smart-mouthed robot in the lead role, with a Bond-like spy twist which gives him toys like cufflink bombs and abilities including Clank-fu. Ratchet has been locked up for a crime he didn't commit, so his metal-head sidekick sets off to break him out. You'll also get to play as Gadgebots, Ratchet and Captain Qwark through the course of the game.
Cons: Being able to decimate large numbers of enemies with ridiculously over-powered weapons was one of the joys of the original series. Now players are encouraged to employ stealth takedowns - and are penalised if the stealthy approach isn't used. Gameplay isn't as smooth as it could be and the progression seems disjointed. This is not the best R&C example - and certainly doesn't show what the PSP is capable of.
Verdict: Is Ratchet and Clank suffering from the same overexposure that ruined the classic Crash Bandicoot franchise?
