Review: Forza Motorsport 3

Forza Motorsport 3 includes V8 Supercars.

Microsoft's Forza series started its life like a poor copy of the
blockbuster PlayStation race simulator Gran Turismo - but no more.

As GT5 seems to have the longest lead time in gaming history, sim
fans should turn their attention to this brilliantly constructed game.

As playable for experienced console motorheads as it is for newbies, Forza is the most comprehensive racing game ever made, with a whopping 400-plus cars on offer.

While the graphics work on the cars is pretty slick, the 100-odd tracks are picture-perfect.

Numerous events include drag racing, drift and circuit racing. Career mode starts drivers off in one of a selection of fairly tame shopping baskets, before progressing to more hardcore machinery.

AI can be a bit unforgiving - other drivers get the pip with you if there's too much "rubbing' and will have a crack at you.

But, like most of the game's driver aids, it can be scaled back so they're tamer.

Verdict: The best racing game on any
console.
