A edutaining follow-up to the free-roaming - but relatively aimless - underwater Endless Ocean, Adventures of the Deep has added some cool features to make this Wii title more engaging. In-game you start as a scuba rookie trying to get into the R&R Scuba Diving service but quickly find yourself on a global ocean quest. There's now a great catalogue system, so you know what sealife you've met; a multi sensor which helps find goals; and a pulsar gun which helps heal some sealife and despatches more aggressive species. Graphics - underwater at least - are excellent for the relatively low-res Wii, and swimming with everything from plankton to sharks, whales and shipwrecks proves entertaining and rewarding.
Controls can be a bit clunky, especially when trying to find exact goals, and above-ground graphics are quite uninspiring. The storyline is perfectly mad, but should draw in the younger target market fairly successfully. Some missions can be a bit on the tedious side, but there's always something to look at.
Verdict: Mostly mellow, flowing gameplay but with the occasional bit of action. Education and entertainment combine showing again what Nintendo does best.
