The highly anticipated follow-up to Modern Warfare has definitely met expectations, and smashed sales records in the process. A FPS second-to-none, it offers three gameplay modes. The single player mode is the most engaging, although only offers about 10 hours of play.
Graphics are incredible - photorealistic and nasty, and at 1080p resolution and carrying brilliant Dolby Digital audio, it's tough to top. Missions are frenetic and some quite disturbing, especially a controversial terrorist attack at an airport where players wipe out queues of civilians, but the nastier content can be disabled. The physics of the game have improved. An unbelievably good war game, well worth the wait.
Changes to the "red mist" that comes down when you've been shot make it incredibly hard to see clearly enough to fight your way out.
Verdict: Mums, before you buy this as a stocking stuffer, this is utterly not a game for kids, it's an incredibly violent, realistic wargame that carries an R18 sticker for good reason. Gamers, get it, it's quite probably the best game of the year.
