Killzone
whatever reviewed here with much enthusiasm.
It's something so uncomplicated that calms your frenzied mind and softens your mood.
Some time ago I raved about an online PS3 game called
flOw
. To be honest, it's one of those trance-like weird and usually Japanese games that you either get and enjoy or scratch your head and think you need to be on some drug concoction to play it.
The people who made the oddly-written
flOw
game now launch
Flower
(Sony) on the PS3 network. It's a similar chill out escapism, playing as the wind, you fly around flowers collecting the floating petals as you interact with nature amidst beautifully rendered and wildly colourful outdoor environments including lush grass and bright blue skies. All accompanied by new agey-type music that changes as you breeze on by picking at the petals.
Control your bright and vibrant petal collection on the breeze with a flick and twist of the wireless sixaxis controller. Mellow out with sweeping turns and dives floating on the wind.
Get a whiff of the air here:
You don't die, you don't have trouble finding hidden objects, you won't scream in horror, no film censor will get worried and ban your game and you won't stay up all night (if you haven't already fallen asleep) as the game is only a few hours long. The biggest stress is collecting every petal!
OK it all sounds a little naff. It's quite frankly hard to describe its charm and magic without sounding a bit uncool.
For fifteen fifty, check it out from the PS Store. In a week when death and destruction rul on the PS3 with Killzone 2, this is a nice brief occasional respite from the mayhem and provides literally a breath of fresh air.
Simplistic, relaxing, I love it.
