KEY POINTS:
Opera Software today released a beta version of its browser for mobile phones.
Opera Mini 4 beta, codenamed Dimension, is a sneak preview of the total redesign of the popular mobile web browser.
One of the most important new features is a zoom, based on the feature that Opera included in its Nintendo Wii version. When zooming, Opera Mini snaps to the page content to allow for smooth scrolling.
The Norwegian company claims that the browser is twice as fast as any similar product.
"Of all the applications I have on my mobile Opera Mini is the only one I use every day," says long-time user and Opera evangelist Phil Burns.
"The fact that you can get the real Web - not WAP - on your regular phone makes it the best way to bring mobile browsing to the masses."
More than 15 million people have browsed more than five billion pages with Opera Mini since its worldwide debut in 2006.
Both the current version and the new beta of Opera Mini are available as free downloads.
