New Zealand technology company asnet has taken its winning streak offshore.
Having scooped both the Education Project Award and the Project of the Year award at the TUANZ Innovation Awards 2001 in August, asnet Technologies was last night selected overall winner of the Best Teleconferencing Service awarded by the Australasian Teleconferencing Association (ATA).
The award recognised asnet's involvement in a Ministry of Education initiative, the KAWM Schools' Videoconferencing Network.
The network currently links 24 schools from Kaitaia to Invercargill via videoconferencing over a Frame Relay connection, enabling students to stay at school, to learn senior subjects in Te Reo Maori, and have the benefit of the best teachers, in joint e-classes.
asnet Technologies Limited was chosen to deliver a fully managed service including videoconference bridging, dual screen Polycom ViewStation ST videoconferencing systems, a Certificate in Teleteaching mai te hui ataata (via videoconferencing) and ongoing training, network management and daily support.
The schools need only to dial a three digit number to be instantly viewing and talking to each other, or to asnet support.
asnet's entry was chosen to go forward to the prestigious Australian Interactive Multimedia Industry Association (AIMIA) Awards to be announced in Melbourne on Friday November 16th.
