A website to help people avoid missing their favourite television programmes was launched in the Bay of Plenty town of Whakatane yesterday.
Developed by former-Kawerau man Paul Stoneham, the website www.ownguide.tv enables people to pre-programme viewing up to a week in advance using the internet.
Deputy Prime Minister Jim Anderton, who helped launch the website, quipped he would now be able to pre-schedule his week's viewing to ensure he didn't miss any of the Crusaders' Super 12 rugby games.
Mr Stoneham's company is based in Mount Maunganui and both he and Mr Anderton believe the new website will have positive spinoffs for the region's economy with an estimated 50 employees to be added to the staff by the end of the year.
