Paramount Picture has announced a deal that will see it make thousands of movie clips available to Facebook users.
Silicon Valley developer FanRocket will launch an application called VooZoo which will go live Monday (LA time).
Paramount will use the clips to market its extensive catalogue of DVDs.
When a clip - which could be anything from a few second snippet from Beverly Hills Cop, to several minutes from classics like Breakfast at Tiffanys - a button will appear that users can click to buy a DVD.
Associated Press reports that Paramount parent Viacom is working with viral video specialist FanRocket to come up with a clever gameplan to promote the next Indiana Jones instalment Kingdom of the Crystal Skull before it uploads clips from previous titles.
Paramount staff, AP says, are wading through thousands of clips and tagging them with search terms - and could be doing so for the next 12 months.
Viacom has previously been very active in keeping its movie clips of video sharing sites like YouTube.
