The United States Justice Department has urged the US Supreme Court to reject Microsoft's request for reconsideration of an appeals court ruling that the company violated US antitrust laws.
The department said Microsoft had provided no good reason for the case to be reviewed. The Government's filing comes a week after the appeals court sent the case back to the district court, where a judge will determine what sanctions should be imposed on Microsoft to prevent future abuse of its monopoly in personal computer operating systems.
