Microsoft New Zealand has announced price increases of 10-18 per cent for its business application software, operating systems, server software and development tools, to take effect from November 1.
Prices for consumer, reference and games products purchased through retail outlets will also be going up, but not until January 1, 2001.
Microsoft New Zealand says the price rises are due to the continuing fall of the New Zealand currency against
the US dollar.
The company's National Marketing Manager, Ross Peat, said the company was delaying the price increase on consumer products to limit the impact during the Christmas season.
"We have done what we can to hold prices constant over the past two years," Peat said.
"We will continue to monitor the exchange rate and will
reflect any currency appreciation in our prices as soon as is practical."
Customers with fixed Enterprise Agreements will not be affected by the price changes.
