Palmerston North's Te Manawa has a diverse range of exhibitions in this month and next. Lasers, rockets, whirlpools and robots bring the spectacular world of physics to life during Sci-quest, while the A to Z of DNA shows how scientists are using genetic information to better understand New Zealand's past. Then there's Jack or Black, which uses multimedia to present arguments for and against changing the nation's flag, and History Unfurled, which looks at our use of flags. It also features an intriguing, large-scale work by artist Joyce Campbell based on crystalline formations, and an exhibition by New Zealand and Australian photographers. Te Manawa is open daily from 10am to 5pm.
