* www.nzkc.org.nz - home of the New Zealand Kennel Club, the place to start for New Zealand dog lovers.

* www.nzcatfancy.gen.nz - the feline equivalent of the Kennel Club. The cat fanciers run the cat shows - have a look at the proposed changes to the points system for 2003 to get an idea of just how complicated the world of cat shows can be.

* www.cfainc.org - the international Cat Fanciers Association. Claims to have the world's largest registry of purebreed cats.

* www.i-love-dogs.com - American site with links to thousands of other puppy-related pages, memorials, breeding, advice, the lot.

* www.dogchat.co.nz - a New Zealand dog lovers' site with discussion boards, breeding and show news. A list of breeders, clubs, associations and kennels.

* www.doggyholiday.com - This Australia/New Zealand site has a list of hotels, camping grounds and holiday parks that allow animals. Includes the various rules and regulations imposed by the various managers, some of which include payment of a bond to cover damage.

* www.pet-net.net - information, news and chat about dogs, cats, fish, birds, horses, squirrels, hamsters, mice, the lot. Links to Winky, the feline astrologer, who predicts that 2003 is the year that chicken will surpass tuna as the preferred food for cats.

* www.tica.org - home of the International Cat Association. Links to vets, and breeding information.

* www.felinerescue.net - of limited use to New Zealanders, but this US cat rescue site is worth a look, particularly its newest project, "Operation Noble Foster - Help our military have their cat to come home to." This operation has been launched to make sure that all the little cats and dogs owned by US military personnel are properly cared for while their owners are away from home dropping bombs on Iraqi cats and dogs.

* www.fanciers.com - a large site dedicated to cats. Aimed at the owners, breeders and fanciers of purebreds. A very good section on cat behaviour.

* www.hedgehogclub.com - the home site of the International Hedgehog Association, a group dedicated to educating the public in the care and betterment of hedgehogs and to help with the rescue, welfare, promotion and care of hedgehogs everywhere.
