Samsung Electronics, the world's third-largest maker of cameras, will unveil a lightweight model capable of capturing high-resolution images to tap growing consumer demand.
The 14.6-megapixel model will be built without the conventional mirror that is part of the higher-end single lens reflex cameras.
Called the NX100, the new camera weighs 282g.
The company expected its share of the global camera market to increase to about 14.6 per cent by the end of this year from 11.6 per cent last year, said Kim Jeong Wook, a vice-president at Samsung's digital imaging business division.
