LG makes world's thinnest LCD

LG Electronics claims to have made a 2.6mm-thick LCD panel.

LG Display says it has made the world's thinnest-ever LCD panel.

The South Korean electronics manufacturer says the LCD television panel is just 2.6mm thick.

The 107cm panel weighs just 4kg and utilises an edge-lit LED backlight system with proprietary optical film.

It is set to be showcased at January's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

LG is currently the world's number two LCD display manufacturer.
