KEY POINTS:
WhereScape Software, a leading data warehouse lifecycle management company, has won a prestigious Red Herring 100 Asia 2007 award.
Red Herring magazine's awards recognise promising private technology ventures in the Asia-Pacific region.
Stellar success stories like Google, Yahoo, Skype and Salesforce.com are past winners of Red Herring awards.
Criteria for selection include financial performance, technological innovation and quality of management.
"The winners are exceptional companies who thrive on innovation and strongly define the important role of technology in Asia's economy and throughout the world," says Joel Dreyfuss, editor-in-chief of Red Herring.
"After a rigorous evaluation process, we're very happy with the winners we selected. There was a large pool to choose from and we're impressed by the calibre of innovative talent bursting from Asia's business and technology sector."
WhereScape CEO Michael Whitehead accepted the award at an event in Hong Kong, which bought an elite group of tech-related companies together for three days of invaluable networking and discussion.
He admits that win is prestigious and confirms WhereScape RED's status as one of the most promising young companies in the region.
"Past winners have gone on to lead the next wave of disruption and cutting-edge innovation," said Whitehead.
"The purpose of the awards is to discover and highlight the most promising companies, and in the process help them attract capital that will enable growth and the realization of that promise. It's a real vote of confidence to be selected as a winner."
