Children were the main winners in the inaugural Ericsson Internet Community Action (Erica) awards, which help community groups promote their causes over the net. The winners (each receiving $10,000 of web development expertise from Ericsson Synergy) were: Kids Edible Gardens - which aims to expand a Christchurch-based organic gardening programme to schools around the country; Kidsline - one of Lifeline's phone support services, which will create a children's chatroom and give advice over the web; and the Historic Places Trust, which plans to build an online database to help preserve historic New Zealand buildings and sites.
