Infinity Solutions is on the hunt for 24 more computer technicians to help maintain the hardware used by Electronic Data Systems (EDS) and its clients.
Account manager Bryce O'Kane said the three-year, multimillion-dollar contract involves a significantly greater amount of work than was previously done by Trilogy, one of the three companies brought together by IT conglomerate Infinity Group into its Infinity Solutions division.
Trilogy had about two dozen people doing break-fix repairs for EDS.
It is likely Infinity will pick up people who previously worked on the account for the losing bidders, which included Computerland and Fujitsu.
Mr O'Kane said that apart from installing, moving and fixing servers, workstations, printers and other equipment, Infinity Solutions will seek a closer partnership with EDS.
"As Trilogy, EDS has known us as a break-fix shop.
"We now want to make them more aware of what we bring from Comtex and Madison," the other companies within the division.
"We want to assist them as we can, so wherever there's a shortage of resources, we can supply backfill."
While hardware maintenance contracts offer a steady income stream, the real money is to be made in software development and other services.
Infinity Solutions chief executive Murray McCaw said that because it brought together the resources of Trilogy, Madison and Comtex, Infinity Solutions was able to offer a fully integrated range of services on a nationwide basis.
Mr McCaw said: "Infinity Solutions has proven to EDS in the past that we can deliver excellent performance in big contracts, and that we can meet the service level agreements EDS has with its clients."
