* Internet Explorer spat up this message at John - "Content Advisor will not allow you to see this site". He hasn't set a Content Advisor restriction and is confused.
Someone has set it, John. You'll have to either enter the password to view that page or if you don't know it, the machine's administrator needs to do so. Due to recent media coverage of unsuitable content being downloaded by children and corporate staff, Content Advisor is commonly used to restrict that access. If the restriction is accidental, most qualified techs can remove it in minutes. Inbox readers often request instructions to gain access to restricted content from their work PCs. I refer all to their system administrator or technical staff who can verify the identity of the user before removing those restrictions.
* John has the dreaded dialup screen when he starts Windows. It's not his only problem, as my return email to him bounces at the Xtra E-mail server.
Go to Start/Run, type msconfig, hit enter and go to Startup. Identify the offending program and remove the tick beside it. Reboot the machine and that program won't start. (It may take a few times eliminating programs on start-up to find the culprit.)
Now your email problem (of which you are unaware as replies fail to reach you): check your email address in Outlook Express (Tools/Accounts/Mail/Properties). You may find you have an old Xtra account listed as a return address or the email address is not correct. Xtra's server only delivers to current accounts on the system.
* More on Norton Antivirus 2000. It seems Norton has removed support from the update file for that version and no longer updates it.
If you are still running an out of date version, either buy a current one or get a free anti-virus program such as the two listed last week: Free Antivirus; AVG
