Welcome to InBox, where we attempt to answer your internet questions.
Q. Sean is frustrated because his euro symbol doesn't seem to be available in Outlook Express 6.
A. It is available Sean - by holding down the Alt key and using the numeric keypad (the number pad on the right of your keyboard) to type 0128. Releasing the Alt key should give the "€". If your version of Windows doesn't support the euro, see the Microsoft FAQ
(frequently asked questions).
Q. Kan complains his browser's start page has been hijacked and it needs more than a simple browser reset.
A. Here's a page that fully explains the problem Kan. Spyware Info provides links to solutions and software to save your browser from being hijacked again.
Q. Peter is more than a little frustrated with continual time-outs and errors when he tries to collect his email from the Xtra server.
A. At certain times of the day, most Pop (post office protocol) mail servers will be very busy Peter, especially a large one such as Xtra. If you feel your internet provider is not providing an efficient mail service and it seems to be during a particular time of day, contact your provider immediately. It may be a rogue spam mail delivery that's eating up resources. By bringing it to their attention a check may result in an outside offender being nabbed. Then again their server may need an upgrade, but their helpdesk currently doesn't seem to think so.
Q. More on the forwarded email "indent" problem discussed last week:
A. John suggests "Strip-em" does the trick.
Q. David is sick of visiting the Kachingo results website and regularly getting a blank page.
A. You can almost imagine that short, redheaded fellow holding back the answer just to tease you David. That big unclaimed ticket in Taupo really woke the punters up and you are not alone in watching online for the next big one. Try to check when the rest of the country isn't. The Kachingo site is very fast at 1am.
