Ken has become fond of his Quick launch bar, but it has disappeared into oblivion. He asks, "Is there any way I can create a new one to put links into again?"
Yes, Ken, this one is easy to fix. Right click on your taskbar, select Toolbars/Quick launch. No sweat.
Lucille has lost sound in Windows features, but strangely seems to have sound in e-mail greeting cards.
Double click the speaker icon beside the clock, Lucille. Make sure that nothing is muted and all controls are either halfway or higher.
"Budweiser screensaver - Virus Warning!" Hans e-mailed me the warning that predicts impending computer doom and public broadcast of passwords contained within if the file is opened.
It's a hoax, Hans! A quick search of a key phrase within the warning produces several hoax notices. Yes, the Budweiser screensaver exists. It is safe to download from the Budweiser site.
Kate recently installed a program called Satellite. Now she gets a message claiming the WS2_32. DLL is missing.
Sounds like the install damaged the file, Kate. Download and replace it from: UFO Resources into your c:/windows/system directory. It's a good site for getting hard-to-find windows system files. Can you also check your return address in your mail program, Kate - my reply to you bounced back into my mailbox undelivered. In Outlook Express, Tools/Accounts/Mail/Properties, look at the return address for misspelled or missing components.
Karen installed Incredimail. All she got was a screen full of Flash errors and she is about to spit the dummy.
Stay calm, Karen. Download and install the Macromedia Flash Plug-in from Macromedia.
Mark is using Outlook as a database of contacts for his business. He has a problem with sharing the contacts folder with another machine within his office network.
Normally you need Microsoft Exchange Server to fully share the Outlook contacts, Mark, but NetPab can do the job.
An oops from last week: Rene is a he, not a she - sorry, Rene.
