Q: In Outlook Express 6, how do I display each email in a maximised window by default? writes Chris. Before I upgraded to version 6 it did that. Now it displays as normal and I have to click maximise each time. I've worked out how to get Outlook Express to start as a maximised window ... but not when I then double-click an email from the list, nor when I click "create mail".
A: Outlook Express won't save the maximised setting Chris, but it will save a manually-set message window size. Take your pointer to each corner of a message, drag the window to the size you want, then close it. Create Mail or opening messages will produce the same-sized window as the one last set manually.
Q: "Your computer might be at risk. Your virus protection is unknown" is the message Ruth, John and many other Inbox readers have been receiving since the XP SP2 update was installed on their machines!
A: It's a known issue. The new security centre can't see Norton because "tamper protection" allows Windows to see it there, but not to see if it's active. Search: Symantec for "your computer may be at risk" to find several pages explaining why, and how to resolve it. Alternately, if you know your virus protection is up to date and active, you can ignore the security centre message.
Microsoft included this feature in the update to reduce a lack of adequate protection that is helping viruses spread.
Q: Toby is frustrated that after connecting to Jetstream and completing a long process of settings changes to get the service to work, the ASB Bank and Xtra sites refuse account access. To confuse things even more, Westpac and online brokerage sites seem to work fine!
A: Restore your Internet Explorer settings to standard, Toby. Go to IE/Tools/Internet Options then:
1. Under the security tab hit "Default"
2. Under the "programs" tab select "reset web settings"
3. Under "advanced" select "restore defaults"
I bet that solves your problem!
