Welcome to InBox, where we attempt to answer your internet questions.
Q. Readers may be interested to know why inbox continues to receive waves of Klez virus infection attempts every week.
A. While Klez is easily identified by virus scanners, infections continues because users are not updating their virus lists or are even failing to run protection. Make sure you update your AntiVirus program weekly. Information on the KLEZ. H scourge.
Q. Ronald is flabbergasted because it seems Hotmail has been adding adverts to his outward emails for a cellular email service it provides.
A. Hotmail is a free service Ronald, therefore may at times use outward emails to promote services for profit to subsidise the system running costs. I agree it's a bit on the nose to place the advert in the message body implying the service is condoned by the sender. But it does prove the old adage, "you get what you pay for".
Q. Bev has received several picture attachments recently that require scrolling to see the whole picture. Is there a way to stop this happening?
A. Unfortunately reception of email attachment size is reliant on what is sent Bev. Open the file in an image editor then reduce the image size by saving the image as a .jpg type. Before you hit "Save", hit the "Options" button where size and compression settings can be altered. Better still ask the sender to do it before sending. Many demo and shareware editors are available from Tucows.
Q. Ian complains of internet password losses then icons disappearing after a "donk" noise from his machine.
A. I suggest you immediately backup all your data then rush the main box to your local PC doctor quick smart Ian. The noise you described is the disk heads slamming into the drive side which will result in total hard drive failure very soon.
