Q. Mary would like to print her list of Internet Explorer favourites, but as many Internet Explorer users have discovered, the menu option for this task doesn't seem to be available.
A. Microsoft seems to have omitted this feature, Mary. There is a way, but it's a little more complicated than negotiating a menu or wizard. You must export the favourites to a file called bookmark.htm then open it in Internet Explorer - Microsoft support explains how.

Q. Keith's Windows 98 machine runs like a slug when he's exploring directories using Windows Explorer. The deeper he goes opening folders and sub-folders, the slower it gets.
A. There are many possible causes, Keith, but start with these steps:
1. Run your "up to date" virus scanner.
2. Run a "Thorough" Scandisk to clean up any damaged files.
3. Run Defrag which will shuffle all the files into tidy, easy to find order.
4. Keep the quantity of directories in the "Root" or "C" directory to a minimum. Installed programs should go into "Program files" and documents or downloaded files should be in "My Documents".
5. Run Start/Windows Update to get the latest available updates.
6. Reduce the quantity of directories in My Documents.

Q. After the answer to a June 6 inbox question about changing the default folder view in Windows XP, several readers complained that the Folder View command was not available on their work computers.
A. It's common for business IT personnel to disable certain Windows features because of company security and standardisation policies.
You should probably ask your company IT administrator before altering settings on your company PC.
