Q. David had to have his PC hard drive reformatted: "Upon getting the box back yesterday I noticed that my digital clock was registering one hour behind true time," he wrote.
A. Check the time-zone, David: Double click on the clock and select time zone. Confirm the zone is (GMT + 12:00) Auckland, Wellington. Then check "Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes". Now click on the Date and Time tab and confirm the date, month and year are correct. If need be, set the time. That should rectify it for good.

Q. Accessing the paid secure section of the Australian Financial Review fails for Ian.
All other secure sites work ok, yet the problem occurs on both his machines. His internet provider, Orcon, has tried access using his details and it works.
A. We are also stumped. Are there any readers out there that have this Australian Financial Review site problem (or even better, have solved it)? Help us to help Ian.

Q. A Smiley Search toolbar has appeared in Outlook Express. "This bar also appears when I am on the web. I have no idea how it got there, I do not want it, how do I delete it?" Complains Don.
A. The Smiley toolbar is a well-known resource hog, Don. Complaints about it are common. Smileycentral has removal instructions.

Q. "Jgl-Rt keeps appearing as a 32kb folder in my trashcan," complains Steve. What is it, and should I be concerned?
A. It's not of concern Steve, it's common with Plextor CD Writers. Essentially it's a temporary directory created when you insert a CD into the drive. Microsoft support explains the situation.

* Download, Install, Update and Run Spybot Search and Destroy to remove most hijackings.
* Download, install & run CWShredder to get rid of the Cool Web Search group of hijackings:
* Contact us for any hijacks that the above solutions refuse to eliminate.
* Email us your question about computers
