Scott's previous internet service provider haunts him - in the title bar of his Internet Explorer browser. Although this doesn't affect its operation, he wants to know if there's "any way to get rid of, or change, this annoying text?"
Quite right, Scott. There's nothing worse than being reminded of your previous provider. Because of licensing agreements between Microsoft and some internet providers, I suggest you don't change that copy, but download a new iIternet Explorer. That way all the preset features will work and you'll have a standard latest version of the software. It's a free download, but will take a while depending on the features you require.

Ben was wondering how to stop Netscape Communicator from starting automatically instead of his preferred browser Internet Explorer.
It's easy, Ben. Depending on your Windows version the sequence is something like this: Go to Start/Settings/Internet Options/Programs. Then put a tick in the box that says "Internet Explorer should check to see if it's the default." When starting Internet Explorer it will then ask if it should be the default browser. Say yes. From then on it will be the one to auto-start, not Netscape.

Instead of a picture, Fred gets a strange "Red X" after scanning a picture into Photo Plus and then copying and pasting it into Word.
It's because Word is confused and doesn't understand the file type that Photo Plus creates Fred. Try saving it as a ". JPG" file first, Fred. Got to File/Save As, then in "file types" select "jpeg File Interchange Format." Word and many other programs should then be able to understand it.

Sue's Norton Anti Virus program is bugging her. It keeps telling her that its virus definition list is out of date. When she allows it to update, it rudely dumps the connection and dials another. This also happens when she starts other internet programs.
No, Sue, that's not a virus causing the problem. You're automatically dialling up a different connection from the Windows default setting. Got to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Internet Settings/Connections. Highlight the connection you use and click the button "Set as Default." Now it should behave.
