Welcome to InBox, where we attempt to answer your internet questions.
Q. I have just upgraded several components on my computer, and now Windows refuses to run unless I enter the licence code. The original code doesn't work, Peter complains.
A. Ah, the joys of Microsoft activation. In this situation the online activation will not work, but you can phone the activation line for a replacement code and manually enter the new one.
Theoretically, upgrading a single component in your system won't reset the XP activation key. But simultaneously upgrading several (eg, motherboard, processor, memory, and video card) will, and, yes, you'll have to get a new key.
Buying a new computer and installing your existing copy of XP on the new machine also means getting a new key from Microsoft. If you're running office XP, the same situation applies.
To reactivate Windows and Office XP call Microsoft Activation: 0800 676-334.

Q. How I can get rid of this infection or is it hijack? Every time I start my Windows 95 computer, I find that my homepage has changed to "fastsearch.cc", Graham asks.
A. It is a hijack! Download Spybot - Search & Destroy. After installing, search for and install all updates. Next, close all Internet Explorer and OE windows, hit "Check for Problems".

Q. Can I fit more than 1.44MB on a floppy disk? Craig writes. I know CD burning is all the rage, but my antique model fits my pocket and in most cases the floppy system does fine. I just have a few instances where it refuses to take what I need it to.
A. There are a couple of ways, Craig:
1) Get "WinImage" v2.2 or later which can format floppies to about 1.7MB.
2) Use "Winzip" which will compress and span a large file over several floppies.
