Brian can't stop Real Player from running when Windows starts.

Real Player has the setting within it, Brian. Double click on the icon. When Real Player starts, select: View/Preferences/General/Start Center/Settings, then remove the tick from Enable Start Center.

Colleen gets a No Dial Tone message when she tries to dial her Xtra connection.

That message is normally caused by one of three things, Colleen. First, make sure no one is using the line to talk (that will stop the dial tone). Then, make sure the modem cable is plugged correctly to the wall and the socket marked Line in the modem (not the one marked Phone). Lastly, check by plugging a telephone into that line. If there is no dial tone, call Telecom faults to fix it.

Ivy's younger brother (aged 70) sends her floppy disks containing Word Perfect documents. "I can get it [the file] up on screen," she says. "But it just sits there sulking."

You can view Word Perfect files by downloading a plug-in. If you install it, you will be able to view the files within your Internet Explorer.

A persistent fax that won't be sent and won't allow deletion, is frustrating Ernest.

You may need to clear the fax queue by manually removing the Temp files that compose the faxes in the queue, Ernest. To do so, follow these steps - but be warned, it's horrible. Quit and log out of Microsoft Exchange. Open an MS-Dos command prompt session. Type the following command: cd\Windows\spool\fax. Then, type the following to remove the temporary spool files: del *.mg3, then: del *.efx. Type exit to close the MS-Dos command prompt session. Restart Microsoft Exchange. Note: A fax sitting in the outbox will start the faxing process and put the fax or faxes back into the queue.

Do you have the new ICQ 30-second virus? Well, it's not a virus, but the latest ICQ is annoying John by bringing a 30-second screen up on the start-up of his computer.

To remove that 30-second screen, start ICQ. Go to ICQ/Preferences/Miscellaneous. Take the tick away from ICQ welcome and click Apply.
