Q. Clyde writes: "I keep getting an image on my screen of a cute little seal lying on its side, yet I didn't put it there. What's going on? I run an up-to-date version of Norton antivirus."
A. You've opened an infected e-mail entitled "When it's cold outside She Gives Me Warm Inside", Clyde. Search Symantec for w32.scold@mm to get an explanation of the virus and removal instructions.
Norton posted the solution for it on December 11. But low priority infections like this are included in Live Update only on a Wednesday, so it was six days before Norton auto-updated to include it. Norton users can get the daily updates, but only as a manual download. Norton customers shouldn't stress, though. Serious infections are included in the Live Update pack as soon as they're available. This infection is not interpreted as doing serious damage, but it does propagate by email using contact lists.

Q. Ken is selling his old Windows 95 computer but can't delete his Windows password.
A. It's easy in Windows 95, Ken. Go to Start/Find/Files and Folders. Type in: *.pwl then hit enter. Delete all the ".pwl" files found and reboot the PC. The login screen will pop up. Just hit enter.

Q. "I'm using Outlook Express and I inadvertently clicked on 'Block Sender' while showing an email address. Unfortunately it did not offer a chance to undo it," writes Nik.
A. The blocked senders list hides in Outlook Express/Tools/Message Rules/Blocked Sender List. Highlight the address and click Remove.

Q. "I'm sorting my pictures. How can I select some without selecting all or moving them one by one?" asks Sharon.
A. Click on the first, Sharon, hold the Ctrl key down and click each of the others. Only those you click on will be selected. Now drag and drop them to the intended folder or use Ctrl C to copy and Ctrl V to paste them there.
