Q. "How can I sort my Internet Explorer favourites in alphabetical order?" asks Ken.
A. Click the Favorites option from the menu bar (between the View and Tools menus - NOT the Favorites button on the toolbar) so the menu opens, Ken. Right-click any favorite to get a drop-down menu and select the option "Sort by Name". Your Favorites list should now be sorted alphabetically.

Q. One of many emails on the subject of hijacking was from Stuart who has tried Spybot and Adaware yet the hijacking of his Start and Search page continues.
A. Adaware or Spybot should remove most of them, Stuart, but there's a tricky bunch termed the Cool Web Search group that seem to be increasing the number of hijackings lately and for them you need CWShredder (available free from: spywareinfo.com).

Q. "Why does Windows ME refuse to remember my email or internet passwords?" asks Ian.
A. The most common reason is failure to log on to Windows, Ian. Windows 95, 98 and ME all allow you to press cancel instead of logging on (Windows XP doesn't allow this), but if you don't log on, Windows can't store passwords because no user directory is specified for them.
Novice experts often suggest disabling the login screen, but in doing this you negate the small amount of user security for a guest using the computer unsupervised.

Q. When Graeme is printing Outlook Express emails the page has a black border. "Even if there are just 2 lines on the page I still get a whole page border," he says.
A. Version 5.5 did this with several specific printers, Graeme. Microsoft rectified it with Service Pack 2, but why run the old version? Update your Internet Explorer to version 6 for free through Start/Windows update.
