Welcome to InBox, where we attempt to answer your internet questions.
Q: "I took out a contract with Wanadoo while in the UK on a four-month visit," says David. "I have deleted it from my dial-up connection settings, leaving only Clearnet. But when I use Outlook Express I get an error message saying 'Unable to get the dial-up network information needed to dial Wanadoo'."
A: Your mail account inside Outlook Express is still set to dial Wanadoo, David. This is specific to the mail account, and ignores the default connection in Internet Explorer's settings. Open OE/Tools/Accounts/Mail/Properties/Connection and remove the tick from "Always connect to this account using", or use the drop-down menu to select the connection you want.
Q: "I am unable to read the text in my emails on Outlook Express (running Windows ME with no viruses identified when scanning for them). I can import emails from my Xtra account, but when I open them, no text appears," writes another David.
A: This problem has several possible causes David.
1. Type in the Start Run box: regsvr32 inetcomm.dll
2. If that doesn't work, check: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=312351
3. If that doesn't fix it, in Internet Explorer, select View/Encoding, uncheck "Auto-Select" and choose "Western European (ISO)".
4. If the problem is only with HTML messages and you have OE6, try Tools/Options/Read and uncheck "Read All Messages in Plain Text".
