Welcome to InBox, where we attempt to answer your internet questions.
* Peter installed StarOffice, but it changed his default email program to its own. He'd like to return to the original software he's used to.
You can Peter. Go to Internet Explorer/Tools/Internet Options/Programs/Mail. Use the dropdown menu to change to your preferred email software.
* Michael asks two questions. Where does Outlook Express store its mail? And why do a couple of emails seem to have ".jpg" image attachments yet refuse to open?
Go to Outlook Express/Tools/Options/Maintenance/Store Folder and you'll see the storage location. Regarding the attachments be very careful. Many viruses send files with a bogus type of jpg. If they refuse to open, treat it as a warning to scan your drive for any nasty virus invaders.
* Theresa spots web addresses while watching TV but can't figure why "ninemsn.co.au" and "goldenglow.co.nz" refuse to activate when she tries them.
You haven't quite got the addresses right Theresa. They should be ninemsn.com.au (you had .co.au whereas it should have been .com.au) and www.goldenglow.co.nz (you were missing the "www" in front). Web addresses must be bang on - a one-character mistake will result in the site not showing.
* Moving one contact at a time into a group Kathleen created for a mailing list is downright frustrating. Surely there's a faster way?
There sure is Kathleen. Open Outlook Express/Tools/Addressbook. Double-click the group, and hit "Select Members". Select the top name you want and hold SHIFT down and click the bottom name (this highlights all between). Hit the "Select ->" button to move them across together. Or, by using the CTRL, instead of SHIFT, you can select the addressees to include in your group one at a time.
* Clive wants the latest version of his start page, but when he opens it he has to click View/Refresh to confirm it's up to date.
Hit F5 Clive - that's the refresh shortcut key.
