Terry wonders if we know of any site that will host web pages free of charge and without advertising banners.
Not many do, Terry. They have to pay for the hardware somehow. Free sites also have a tendency to fold or change policy when the finance runs out. Geocities hosts pages for free, but puts a small removable advert window in the top right corner. Can anyone else help us point Terry to a truly free web hosting site without banner ads?

Lynton wants to save web pages without saving into several files and folders so they can be viewed easily.
Because of the way web pages are designed, you can't save several as a single file. But you could cut and paste into Microsoft Word. Highlight the whole web page in your browser, then right click and copy it. Open a blank Word document, right click and paste. Save it as a .doc file.

"In Explorer I often get a window that pops up saying, 'This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down'," says Martyn. "What's going on?"
Internet Explorer is trying to force Windows to do something it won't do, or it's getting confused when a web page wants it to do something strange. Get the latest updates at Microsoft which may fix the problem. If not, it's time to call a professional.

Bob needs a way to keep a tally of his internet hours used each day and each month.
Head for Tucows Bob. Select your operating system, then "Modem Dialers (DUN)." Then have a look at the descriptions. There are several programs there that keep track of your time online. Hint: Lots of cows = highly recommended.

Brian is trying to translate Mandarin into English and vice versa within Outlook Express, but can't find the right software.
At Mandarin Tools you'll find answers to most questions on translating between English and Chinese - although the many Mandarin dialects may make the conversion produce a less than perfect result.
