*Neil Lindstrom wants to remove the text box border when inserting a box within a .gif or .jpg image because he feels it would look better, but he finds he cannot banish it using the border settings in the format column.
Here's a workaround, Neil. Right-click, select format text box, and set the border colour to white. Or you might use a frame instead, in which case right-click and select borders/shading from the menu that appears, then choose setting/none from the resulting box and clear the four edges in the preview panel to the right.
*How do I tell a very nice and well-meaning ex-neighbour that I don't want all the junk she forwards to me and a whole bunch of other unfortunates, asks "K" of Auckland.
I still have to have contact with her and don't want to offend her, but I have to pay for the download, and I have better things to do with my time. There must be some sort of e-mail etiquette I can follow, or shall I just write to an Agony Aunt?? - Yours in consternation ...
How well I understand your problem, K, because this Agony Aunt is in the same position! So I'm not a lot of help, because I honestly haven't been able to work out a kind way of telling him I don't need his dumb jokes and graphics. So let's both throw ourselves on the mercy of Herald readers, shall we? Anyone? The best excuse (note, I didn't say kindest, necessarily) wins a copy of GoBack (www.goback.co.nz) and the judge's decision (mine, in fact) is final.
*Glynis Marshall is speaking for many readers and listeners when she writes: People should be warned about BonziBuddy I did a foolish thing - it was driving me mad last night, this silly little fellow popping up all the time making crazy comments.
I right-clicked on the mouse and it had several options - one said remove and so I clicked on that and guess what, I then could not use my Hotmail at home again.
It all went blank. The little fellow waved goodbye and from then on I could not [send] e-mail. We don't need these added frustrations in life.
This cute little character will drive you crazy and cling to your system for dear life. He hates being told to go.
But Ria has the answer: uninstall is actually set into the program, you just go to start/programs, then click uninstall. People should never download anything that does not have an uninstall among the files. You can also uninstall in control panel but you have to be careful you don't actually delete files ... There is also an uninstall option in BonziBuddy's home page.
*Finally, from Joe Nol: re Chas Lowe's problem with defrag - I have experienced the same problem and discovered that I have to shut down Zone Alarm and disable Norton Antivirus before running defrag. I don't recall having a problem with defrag before installing Zone Alarm. Any comments would be appreciated.
* More of your InBox questions will be answered Wednesday in CyberLunch, on air 12:00-1:00 with Murray Lindsay and Peter Sinclair on Classic Hits 97FM.
