NEW YORK - Microsoft says orders ahead of the official launch of the fast-paced shooter video game "Halo 3" exceeded 1 million in North America, breaking pre-order records in the video game industry.
"Halo 3," the third version of its flagship game franchise in which players assume the role of futuristic soldiers fighting an alien army, is scheduled for a retail release on September 25 for Microsoft's game console Xbox 360.
Kiwi gamers will be the first in the world to get their hands on the long-awaited blockbuster game when it launches at 12:01 am on September 25.
Game maker Bungie has made numerous announcements about the second sequel to Halo, including that four players can hook up and take on the bloody campaign mode online.
All missions will be accessable playing online over Xbox Live or system linked through a LAN (local area network).
