KEY POINTS:
Firefox, the most popular web browser after Microsoft's Internet Explorer, will get its beta test release at the end of July, but the latest Alpha 5 release shows the direction the new browser is taking. A new feature of Firefox will allow a user's bookmarks to be searched by keyword, allowing for easier retrieval of pages you've tucked away for future reference. The function was originally planned for the current Firefox release (version 2) but was excluded late in the piece.
A new password manager and a browser crash reporting tool also feature in the early release, which will be followed by one more Alpha release before the July 31 beta launch of Firefox 3.
