I love Final Fantasy - the varied and deep characters, the endless storytelling, the mini-games, the tough boss fights and the immaculate visual detail. I just can't wait.
Gears of War 2
and
Fable 2
were among the titles Microsoft has announced as their big ones in the year ahead
But the next big local title I'm hanging out for is
Too Human
, a third-person epic action game from Canadian developer Silicon Knights. As the cybernetic god Baldur, you are thrust into a battle that threatens the existence of mankind.
An ancient machine presence has forced the god's hand. In the first part of a trilogy, Baldur is charged with defending humanity from an onslaught of monstrous war machines bent on the eradication of human life.
I saw a preview recently at a Microsoft product line-up and it looked wild.
Check out this
demo on You Tube.
Too Human
is out on August 28.
Race Driver: GRID
(Codemasters. Xbox 360, G)
Lately in my 360 has been Race Diver: GRID (also available PC, PS3 and DS) which is more of an arcade racing game than sim - or somewhere in the middle - enabling you to play out your fantasy as a racing driver around international circuits and street tracks.
The car physics are so realistic, the damage is phenomenal and the flashbacks are very helpful - I can't imagine playing without them.
But you can only upgrade your car by selling it and buying another rather than being able to play with the mechanics of the cars to enable the best handling.
This especially affects taking tight corners fast - and avoiding crashes with the well-placed drums. The tweak and tyre enhancements were always a bonus in Gran Turismo.
If you're a hardcore racing fan, you'll enjoy the intensity of the races, the tight twisting corners, the variety of tracks and cars, maybe not the crashes - but the drift circuits and replay are good features.
MadGamer rating: 8 / 10
Meanwhile, if you have one of those new iPhones check out the
first racing games
for this revolutionary device and a Nintendo
