The "digitally disadvantaged" will get help understanding the computer world with almost $6 million in new funding.
The $5.99m from the Community Partnership Fund would be distributed to 28 information and communication technology projects, Ministers Tariana Turia and Steven Joyce announced today.
Mrs Turia, Minister for Community and Voluntary Sector, said the funding would expand existing projects including Computers in Homes and three community computer hubs.
Communication and Information Technology Minister Steven Joyce said up to 30 per cent of New Zealanders were "currently excluded from the digital world".
The Government wanted to help everyone to participate for economic productivity and social reasons, he said.
