KEY POINTS:
The Government is setting up a new digital sector forum that will create partnerships between industry and the community, Communications and Information Technology Minister David Cunliffe said today.
Mr Cunliffe said the overarching forum would provide "a co-ordinated voice to government" on digital issues and the key to its success would be wide representation.
It will be working by the middle of this year and the Government is providing $825,000 for each of the first two years of its operation and $400,000 a year after that.
"Creating a digital future for New Zealanders requires collaboration from a wide range of stakeholders," Mr Cunliffe said.
"It is important that the interests of the wider digital community and those working with government on the development and implementation of the Digital Strategy and other initiatives are heard."
