On the subject of big IT companies that sell printers, Dell has launched its first printer on the New Zealand market - the scan, copy and fax-enabled 926.
The 926 installed easily and is simple to use. At $159 (including GST and delivery) it is well priced for the functionality it offers.
One possible issue is that being from mail-order champion Dell, ink for the printer can only be ordered online or by phone, but the software is set up to nag you to do this as your current cartridge gets low.
The online ordering process is straightforward, if very American. The website refuses to acknowledge the existence of New Zealand's smaller cities in a drop-down menu. This didn't affect delivery, however. An order on Thursday night arrived by courier on Tuesday morning.
The $33.75 cost of a standard cartridge may seem high, but the number of pages and the convenience of having it delivered, seemed to justify the price. I'd give it eight out of 10.
