For blind people, cooking and preparing food can be much more of a challenge. Thanks to a designer named Neora Zigler, the process has been made easier. Recent experiments with a half synthetic, half biological biomaterial could usher in a new era for the world of cosmetic surgery. The material is made from hyaluronic acid and polyethylene glycol, and would be injected beneath the skin as a liquid, manipulated into the required shape and then set using a green light LED array.
A company called EnviroMission has ambitious plans to build a solar tower that will be twice the height of the Empire State building. The tower will work by harnessing the energy generated through temperature differentials; the hot air at the base of the tower will rise and turn turbines within the tower itself to generate electricity. The tower could produce enough power to provide electricity for 150,000 homes in the US.
