Frank the cat has become a worldwide media star - and all he did was have his pelvis broken in a hit-and-run.
The five-year-old grey and white moggy has become an internet hit after his owner decided to link Frank's cage to two webcams in an effort to find the couple who rescued him.
The website has since attracted more than a quarter of a million visits or about 12,000 hits a day.
Frank's owner, David Donnan of Cambridge, England, is managing director of an internet firm and also wanted to use Frank's recovery to test new webcam software.
Visitors to the site can view x-rays of Frank's broken pelvis, read his resume, send get-well cards or email pictures of their own pets.
Frank's recuperation site has featured on BBC online and in the Washington Post. He gets bags of mail every day.
Frank faces four more weeks of confinement in his cage and when he is fully recovered Mr Donnan is thinking of rigging webcams at the local vet so people can watch recovering animals.
In the United States, "petcams" allow busy owners to keep an eye on their pets while the owners are at work.
Latest news from the site was that Frank's rescuers have contacted Mr Donnan and were due to pay Frank a visit.
