Electronic Arts' new PC real time strategy game BattleForge launches in open beta form today.
The RTS take on a virtual trading card game focuses on online play and will go live in full version on March 27.
The open beta gives players access to all 200 cards and all maps in the game. Those who take part in the beta test will also get a bonus upgraded Firedancer unit when the game proper launches.
It combines RTS and a digital trading card mechanic, with players using virtual trading cards to build up their armies. EA says the game provides a form of strategy play that is "more accessible to causal gamers."
BattleForge will also feature social aspects like in-game mail, co-op play, chatrooms and a marketplace.
