The average New Zealand Facebook user has 124 friends according to a new poll.
UMR Research says 70 per cent of Kiwis' Facebook friends are people they haven't seen since school, and 35 per cent are friends with someone they've never met in person.
In spite of the fact that Facebook policy is for users to be at least 13 years old to set up a profile, 29 per cent of users are friends with someone under that age.
Friending your boss is unusual with just 14 per cent are virtual friends with their current employer, and 26 per cent have a former partner amongst their friends.
The average number of Facebook friends is also boosted by the 8 per cent of users who have over 300 friends.
