Hurray for the Sunshine Coast and their 'smartphone code of conduct'!
The code encourages holidaymakers to put their mobiles and iPads away, get on with the holiday and enjoy their food before uploading photos of it.
It's not just about phones. Seconds before racing began at the Melbourne Grand Prix earlier this year, the bloke next to me whipped out his iPad, held it out in front of everyone and filmed the exciting first moments.
Great view for his iPad; not so great for the six people standing alongside him also straining for the best view. They quickly shared their thoughts with the iPad-obsessive spectator.
And what's the point? In our rush to record every moment of a holiday, we can lose touch with the holiday experience itself.
