AME Software's realisation of its global goals have taken a step forward with the signing of a worldwide licensing and distribution agreement with British desktop management software company Vector Networks.
AME chief executive Max Wadey said the two-year deal allowed Vector Networks to put components of the Advanced Management Environment (AME) tool into its PC-Duo Enterprise software.
Auckland-based AME helps companies deploy Windows servers and desktops and manage them from a central point with performance levels comparable to mainframe environments.
It is based on technologies and methodologies developed by Auckland systems integrator Axon Computertime, which were spun off into the separate company.
Wadey said Vector had a network of resellers in more than 40 countries and an installed base of almost 3.5 million PCs. Its biggest markets were Germany and the United States.
"This gives us international credibility plus distribution from an organisation devoted to this part of the market," he said.
"The financial deal is they pay for any modifications needed to brand it as their own, and then we get a 17.5 per cent royalty on sales. We have guaranteed minimum royalties for the first year, and that in itself was worth doing the deal."
He said AME would continue to look for other distributors.
Vector's PC-Duo Enterprise does desktop management tasks such as fault diagnosis, remote control, self-healing and software distribution but unlike AME cannot be used to implement new operating systems.
