Apple has announced to selected US media that it will be holding a press conference about its troubled iPhone 4 on Friday morning (Saturday NZ time).
Who is actually going to speak at the event - and what is actually going to be spoken about - remains a mystery.
Apple spokesman Steve Dowling wouldn't elaborate on the content of the press conference, which is reportedly to be held at the company's Cupertino HQ.
Notoriously tight-lipped - and even more so since respected magazine Consumer Reports refused to recommend iPhone 4 to its readers because of reception issues - Apple has admitted problems with the way that iPhone calculates how much signal it is receiving.
It sold a record 1.7 million iPhone 4s within the first three days of release, making it the fastest selling product in Apple history.
Since then it has been bombarded with criticism about how well the device handles the most basic of functions - making phone calls.
There has been speculation that the PR disaster that has followed the otherwise incredibly successful launch could force a product recall.
