Apple has released a raft of updates fixing potential security risks on several products, including the much-lauded iPhone.
With a promised disclosure of a glaring, remotely-exploitable vulnerability in the iPhone's armour expected at the high-profile Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas, the fixes are flowing out of Cupertino.
Apple pushed out the iPhone 1.0 update, which is only available through iTunes, with four fixes for situations that could allow hackers to take total control of the phone.
The patch-fest is said to cover up to 50 security worries, including a Safari Webkit drama that mean International Domain Name and Unicode fonts imbedded in the browser can be used to create a URL containing lookalike characters, according to Apple's update explanation. These could be used in a malicious site to direct the user to a spoof site that appears legitimate.
There are fixes available for Safari for Windows as well as the Mac version.
A selection of Apple fixes are available for OS X users through the operating system's Software Update feature.
