Leafing through thousands of Government documents to find out what financial state the country is in isn't possible for most of us, but a new smartphone app will make it easier to view key material released in this year's Budget.
The NZ Budget app, developed by Wellington company PaperKite, will allow users to read documents including the Budget speech, ministers' public statements, and watch video coverage.
Finance Minister Bill English said the app would be updated each year, and the Government would also look at using the technology to relay other information.
As well as keeping up with an increasingly digital environment, it was helping to reduce the need for printed documents.
The app will be available to download free from Apple and Android app stores from late tomorrow afternoon and further information and links will be available from the Treasury's website.
