Airline web traffic surges

Local commercial airline websites have had a surge of visitors in the wake of the Air New Zealand-Ansett debacle, says web measurement company Hitwise.

Airnz.co.nz rose 12 places last Saturday to be 17th overall in New Zealand. It is now sitting at 16th in the daily rankings, its highest-ever position.

Qantas.com.au rose 164 places on Saturday to be 255th in the overall rankings, while on Monday ansett.com.au reached its highest-ever position in the rankings of 788th overall, a jump of 691 places from the previous day.
